Tactical voting
Colchester
Why vote Labour in Colchester?
Colchester has been Conservative since 2015, with Labour as the main challenger in 2017 and 2019. Before 2015, it was Liberal Democrat. It was a close race in the 2000s, with Lib Dems depending on some support from Labour voters. The Lib Dems still have a presence in local politics and came second to Labour in the constituency in May 2024 local elections, but Labour and Conservative are the main contenders for the 2024 general election. Labour leads in recent polling, but it's not a huge margin and the Conservatives will be hoping to squeeze the vote of Reform UK to hold off Labour.
