Tactical voting
Gloucester
Why vote Labour in Gloucester?
Gloucester is a key ‘bellwether’ constituency that has voted for the party that has won the election nationally in all elections since 1964, with the exception of the two elections of 1974. The Liberal Democrats polled well in the city elections in May 2024, and have been an important force locally for some time, but they have never translated this into serious support in a parliamentary election. When it comes to general elections, the choice in Gloucester is between Conservative and Labour. Latest polling shows Labour comfortably ahead of the Conservatives in general election voting intention here, but polls have tightened during campaigns before and been in error in some previous elections.
