Why vote Labour in High Peak?

High Peak is a marginal seat that Labour held from 1997 to 2010 and 2017 to 2019, but which has otherwise been Conservative in recent decades. Labour’s loss in 2019 was very narrow and the constituency is the party’s third target seat, making it an essential part of a non-Tory majority. No party other than Labour regards it as a target seat. Latest polling shows Labour comfortably ahead of the Conservatives in general election voting intention here, but polls have tightened during campaigns before and been in error in some previous elections.
