Leigh and Atherton is the successor to the Leigh constituency which the Conservatives gained in 2019 after nearly a century of Labour representation starting in 1922. Latest polling shows Labour a long way ahead of the Conservatives in general election voting intention here, but polls have tightened during campaigns before and been in error in some previous elections and the Conservatives will be trying to squeeze the large Reform UK vote.
