Why vote Labour in Wolverhampton West?

Wolverhampton West is the successor seat to the old Wolverhampton South West, following boundary changes. The previous seat was closely contested between Labour and Conservative, switching sides in 1997, 2010, 2015 and 2019. Labour had a comfortable but not overwhelming lead in the May 2024 local elections in a clear two-party contest with the Tories. In the context of general election voting intention the latest polling shows a large Labour lead over the Conservatives. However, polls have tightened during campaigns before and been in error in some previous elections. It is not a target seat for any party other than Labour.
